“After my time in Brazil, I am beyond speechless. I made so many friends in my classes, in the house that I lived in, and through community activities. I also made one inspiring best friend that really took me under her wing. She helped me both to learn the language and to get out and travel to places throughout the country. With her help, not only was I better able to understand what was going on in my classes, but I was even able to visit unique parts of Brazil! I actually celebrated my 21st birthday while I was in Brazil and all of my roommates surprised me with a trip to a waterfall, dinner out on the town, a cake, and even a gift! I never expected to feel like I was part of a family or to ever have anyone that I barely knew do that for me. The opportunity to be immersed in the Brazilian culture and learn Portuguese was simply amazing. I was even able to attend many seminars on subjects including subjects such as horse nutrition and post-graduation opportunities. My classes and the seminars I attended gave me unique ideas on how to improve agricultural management practices in the United States. I loved my time in Brazil, and I cannot wait to return someday!”
